Prayer and Puja Request for You and Others

WHY WE PERFORM THESE SERVICES?

Prayers and pujas are done daily at Lama Gaun Tashi Rabten Monastery for the welfare of individuals and their loved ones. The monas- tery and its monks take seriously the power of prayers and rituals as requested by many people. We, at Lama Gaun, feel it is our joyous duty to secure the happiness of others especially during times of stress, need and welfare.

WHAT ARE PRAYERS AND PUJAS?

The act of heartful praying is a skillful method developed at Lama Gaun for effectively interacting, on the behalf of oneself and others, to enhance communication between the requester and highly realized beings, such as boddhisattvas, buddhas and other enlightened ones. It involves strong and proper determination, an intense dedication to serve others thereby achieving an increase in positive energy and the accumulation of merit. Through this process, blessings of physical, mental and spiritual “healings” are strengthened and “divine” intervention is achieved for those in need.

Pujas are spiritual practices involving pragmatic meditations, prayers, offerings and recitations of sadhanas and mantras. These practices have developed over many centuries and have been codified through the insights and practices of highly developed beings. Pujas are done in order to reduce or completely remove obstacles or hindrances to living a fully joyous life, mundanely and spiritually. Ultimately, the effect of pujas, as an intervention for individuals and their love ones, is to create the conditions for complete peace in life.

Prayers and pujas are done by the sangha, the community of monks, at Lama Gaun for the welfare of the petitioners and their loved ones. What makes the prayers and pujas especially powerful is the combined strength of unity, that is, the spiritual intention of the entire sang- ha: its vows, dedication to moral values and practices of meditation. This combination of causes forms the bases of “healing,” energizing requests into acts of well-being for the benefits of all who request help.

PUJAS CAN BE REQUESTED FOR VARIOUS PURPOSES

  • To help oneself and others improve the quality of their lives, relationships, work, finances and business
  • To help oneself and others effectively deal with physical and mental sicknesses and treatments
  • To help oneself and others to live and die peacefully
  • To help oneself and others received the great blessings from holy beings in order to achieve favorable circumstances of dying and a spiritual rebirth to continue the path towards enlightenment
  • To help oneself and others by removing hindrances to spiritual practice, making the inner journey to awakening smooth and quick
  • To help oneself and others fulfill any fruitful (beneficial) aspirations that are conducive to wellbeing, on the mundane and spiritual levels
